UPDATE 1900 Local (1330 GMT) - Unfortunately nothing new to report. The rain is bucketing down in Dharamsala. The fans are enjoying the rain if not the match. PREVIEW - After a long season away from home, the Indian home season begins. The first competitor is South Africa, whose squad selection barely sounds as a competition. India would be oozing with confidence and probably, have 3-0 scripted even before a ball has been bowled. The hosts have been dominant in recent times and would be looking to continue it against their African opponents. They have an all-round squad which is capable of putting in dominant performances. Krunal Pandya had a brilliant series against the Windies and will be leading the spin attack while the younger Pandya, the dashing all-rounder is back in the squad after taking a rest for the Windies tour. KL Rahul will be a nervous man as this might be his last chance to prove himself at this level after a disappointing performance in the Windies. Navdeep Saini and Deepak Chahar made a good impression for themselves and are set to continue to man the pace bowling duties. The Proteas, on the other hand, are coming off a disappointing World Cup campaign and they would be hoping for a much better performance in this series. It will not be easy for them as they are up against a very good India squad. They have an inexperienced squad at their disposal with a new captain in Quinton De Kock. The fact that the whole South African squad has not played even half the matches that the Indian players have played shows the difficulty they might face. Rabada is the only experienced bowler in the squad and will have to be at his absolute best to beat this Indian side. Faf Du Plessis is not part of the squad as they are looking to blood youngsters for the upcoming T20 World Cup and it will be interesting to see how they perform in alien conditions. Both the teams will be looking at this series as a preparation for the T20 World Cup which will be held in Australia next year. Will India continue their dominance or the Proteas spring in a surprise? Join us on 15th September at 1900 Local for what is a start to an exciting season of cricket.
