Well, considering English weather conditions more such washouts are expected during the course of the tournament.

That's it from Bristol. The match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka have been called off without a ball being bowled. Both the teams share the spoils with one point each

Update 1530 Local - Hmmm.... so people waiting for the inspection news - sadly, nothing much to report. The umpires did head out to have an inspection but then they went back as well. Clearly, the conditions were not ready with the outfield taking a pounding due to the continuous rain. There are a few patches on the outfield and they will need some drying. The next inspection will be at 1515 LOCAL though. It has been that sort of a day. Almost on the verge of being called off but given that this is a World Cup game, there will be that attempt to ensure that at least one team gets 2 points. Imagine the state of the players who need to be mentally prepared for a possible 20-25 over dash. For their and the crowd's sake, let us hope we get some contest. PREVIEW - It is time for the second all-Asia clash of this World Cup. Pakistan will be locking horns with Sri Lanka in Bristol. Both the sides bounced back brilliantly after being thumped in their first game. The two sides will be eager to continue their winning momentum. Pakistan are favorites heading into the contest. Yes, they won their first game after 11 matches but they are a more balanced unit than their opponents. Playing Asif Ali and Shoaib Malik gives them more depth in the batting and their bowling, with the return of Amir, Shadab and Wahab, seems threatening. The thing about Pakistan is, they are very unpredictable, after being blown away by a side they would have fancied beating (West Indies) in their first game, they showed great character to defeat the tournament favorites (England). However, consistency is key in such events and they need to be at their best to end up in the top 4 spots. For Sri Lanka, their batting has been a real issue, especially the middle order has been very poor. The form of Mendis and Mathews is a real worry but knowing how good the two are, they might just get another go. Their bowling was impressive in the last game and they might not change anything in that department. The first all-Asian clash was an absolute thriller, let us hope for something similar.
