One of the finest players to have ever graced Indian cricket, Anil Kumble turns 49 years old on Thursday. The legendary spinner has numerous records to his name and many more memorable performances - where he led the Indian team to victories with his majestic bowling performances. On his birthday, the likes of Gautam and Harbhajan Singh – who both have shared the dressing room with Kumble – took to Twitter to extend greetings.

Harbhajan went on to hail Kumble as the greatest spinner to have ever played the game. While Jumbo undoubtedly remains one of the best in the sport's history, Bhajji rated him even above the likes of Shane Warne and Muttiah Muralitharan.

“Greatest spinner ever played the game.. biggest match winner for india.. happy birthday @anilkumble1074 my bowling partner and guru,” Harbhajan wrote on Twitter.

Gambhir also hailed him as India's 'greatest match-winner' in his birthday wish for the legendary spinner.

“Birthday wishes to India’s greatest match winner @anilkumble1074! Have learnt so much from you and you are the best leader that I have played under! Thanks for inspiring generations of cricketers,” Gautam wrote.

VVS Laxman also took to the micro-blogging website to wish the former leggie on his birthday.

"Wishing you a very special birthday and a wonderful year ahead @anilkumble1074. May God shower you with blessings today and always and I am sure this special day will bring you endless joy and tons of precious memories!", Laxman tweeted.

Having represented India in 132 Tests and 271 ODIs, Kumble has bagged 619 and 337 wickets respectively. He had made his international debut for India on April 25, 1990, against Sri Lanka in an ODI at Sharjah and played his last game for the country against Australia at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on October 29, 2008, which was a Test match.

He has since also been the head coach of the Indian team for a year before resigning from his post after the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy final defeat to Pakistan.
