After becoming the first cricketer in 65 years to take over the BCCI as its president, Sourav Ganguly on Thursday discussed the roadmap of the Indian cricket team in his very first selection meeting alongside skipper Virat Kohli and vice-captain Rohit Sharma. The BCCI president and secretary Jay Shah on the sidelines of the selection committee meeting had the chance to officially meet the skipper-deputy duo following the squad announcement of the upcoming bilateral series with Bangladesh. Captain Kohli has been rested for the three-match T20I series with Bangladesh but will lead Team India in the whites.

Though India have opted to go without the services of Virat in the scheduled three-match T20I series against the Bangla Tigers, the charismatic batsman of the Indian team across all formats will be leading the host nation in the two-match Test series scheduled for a start from November 14 in Indore.

Shastri wasn't present in Ganguly's first selection meeting

Although Ganguly met Rohit and Kohli, Indian head coach Ravi Shashtri was not part of the committee meeting ahead of India's next home assignment. However, the Indian head coach and chief of the apex board are expected to meet and greet in person during the second Test against Bangladesh which will be held at the iconic Eden Gardens. The Test match venue is also the home ground to the Prince of Kolkata.

Dada gave refreshing inputs

In a report filed by news agency PTI, it was learned that Ganguly wanted to meet the leaders of the Indian team and was keen on giving his refreshing inputs. "The president and the secretary wanted to meet the captain and the vice-captain. There were some discussions on the roadmap. The president gave his inputs which were refreshing," a BCCI source, privy to the selection committee, said.

'All smiles'

The BCCI shared a photo of the board meeting after the squad announcement was done earlier in the evening. "All smiles at the Senior Selection Committee meeting earlier this afternoon as the teams for the forthcoming T20I & Test series against Bangladesh were announced #TeamIndia," the BCCI caption read.
