The Indian Sports Honours were held at the SVP Stadium in Mumbai on Friday as skipper Virat Kohli, who is a stakeholder in the initiative alongside Sanjiv Goenka (the chairman of RP-SG Group), attended the event with his wife Anushka Sharma. Both Kohli and Anushka shared multiple pictures from the ceremony on their social media accounts.

The ceremony was earlier scheduled to be held in February but was postponed following the attack on Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans in Pulwama.

The annual ceremony sees awards being given to Indian sportspersons across 11 different categories. The names of the winners were decided by the jury which consisted of some legends of the sports industry in India, including Pullela Gopichand, Abhinav Bindra, Sardar Singh, Mahesh Bhupathi, P T Usha and Anjali Bhagwat. The nominations were submitted after a shortlist was created by 200 journalists from the Sports Journalists Federation of India (SJFI).
