Steve Smith has been on a different level in the ongoing Ashes 2019 so far as he continues to toy around with the English bowlers. He has notched up fifty-plus scores in all six innings that he has played so far in the ongoing five-match series. While Smith has enjoyed a fierce duel with England bowlers, he has had quite a battle of wit with Jonny Bairstow, who seems to have tricked the former Aussie captain twice in two days.

After pulling off a fake run out against the right-hander on the second day of the fifth Test, Bairstow was at it again on the third day of play at the Oval in London where he tricked Smith with a deceptive shot while batting in England's second innings. The incident happened in the 66th over of the innings when Bairstow was batting on 2.

The England wicket-keeper batsman was facing spinner Nathan Lyon and decided to have some fun with Smith, who was fielding at the first slip. It was a fullish delivery from Lyon and it looked like Bairstow was prepared to sweep it but he decided to change his mind at the last moment and opened the face of his bat to push it towards Smith, who was left surprised and ended up misfielding.

Earlier, on the second day of play in the ongoing Test match, Bairstow had tricked Smith into diving after faking a run-out. Bairstow pretended that he was about to collect the throw and remove the bails with Smith running on the danger end, however, the ball was nowhere close to the keeper, who forced Smith into putting a mad dash into the crease trying to save his wicket.

England batsmen have put the hosts ahead in the Test match with a strong lead of 382 runs at stumps on Day 3. Opener Denly played a sublime knock of 94 runs and was complimented well by Stokes, who slammed a brilliant 67. The hosts will look to add to the total on the penultimate day of the Test match before gearing up to defend it and level the series 2-2.
