India's milestone man turns 31

An aggressive batsman who possesses a series of breathtaking shots in his arsenal, Kohli has championed all formats of the game with the willow and is undoubtedly a walking nightmare for opposition bowlers. The Indian skipper's commitment and work ethics have always managed to set the bar really high for his peers and budding cricketers. Breaking records like his foot is always on the accelerator when it comes to scoring runs, Kohli is hailed as India's milestone man and also the flagbearer of elegant batting in the modern era.

BCCI's special tribute for King Kohli

Adding feathers to his already illustrious crown has always been an avocation of King Kohli. The swashbuckling batsman has managed to rewrite and script history on several occasions that it has become an inevitability for Kohli to unlock achievements no matter what format or series he has been a part of with the Indian team. From captaincy to individual batting records, there is no denying that the Indian skipper is in a league of its own.

As the Indian skipper turns 31 today, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) celebrated the birthday of Kohli by sharing his first One Day International (ODI) century against Sri Lanka. In December 24, 2009, India played Sri Lanka in the 4th ODI of their bilateral series with the visiting nation at the monumental Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Asked to chase down a challenging 316-run total, Kohli joined forces with Gautam Gambhir as the pair stitched a match-defining 224-run stand which laid the foundation of a comfortable win for India. Kohli's immaculate 107-run-knock came in 114 balls and was laced with 11 fours along with one maximum.
