VADODARA: Revival Group’s presidential candidate Pranav Amin is keen to see that Vadodara hosts 2023 ICC World Cup matches.

Amin said that if his group is elected to power, he will speed up the work on the long-pending cricket stadium that has beeen planned at Kotambi.

The Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) has been promising a cricket stadium to its members and citizens for the past 15 years but the project has moved at snail’s pace.

“We have already prepared cricket grounds on the land and we expect to begin the construction within next six months. It is an expensive project so the construction will be done in phased manner. The idea is to have a stadium ready to host international cricket matches ahead of the 2023 ICC world cup,” Amin said.

“We will try to bring a couple of world cup matches in the city. Also, we will be able to host Indian Premier League (IPL) matches. The BCCI is happy with BCA for the infrastructural facilities and so we were given many domestic matches in the earlier season,” Amin added.

When asked what will be the focus of the Revival Group’s campaign, Amin said, “We will focus on our achievements like ensuring survival of BCA by taking up the one-state one-vote issue in the court and winning it.”

When pointed out that BCA hasn’t been able to get grants worth crores due to delay in submitting audited accounts to the BCCI, Amin said the management couldn’t hold AGM due to Lodha Committee’s recommendations.

“When we win the election, we will pass all the annual accounts pending from 2014-15 to 2017-18 so that we get Rs 100 crore from BCCI.”
