Steve Smith has once again jokingly donned a pair of spectacles — this time arm in arm with England’s Jack Leach.
Smith was photographed wearing glasses during wild celebrations at Old Trafford after Australia won the fourth Ashes Test, and retained the urn.

peculation was rife that Smith wore them to mock England’s Leach, who became the nation’s cult hero for his gritty tailend knock at Headingley, and for constantly cleaning his glasses when batting.

Congratulations on an incredible #Ashes series @stevesmith49. Leachy loves the glasses 🤓 pic.twitter.com/q5mpc8UK1n
The explanation given from Smith was that he was impersonating former Aussie opener Chris Rogers, and not Leach.
And once the Ashes was completed on Sunday, Smith shared a beer with Leach in the dressing rooms and assured the spinner that he wasn’t mocking him.
“Steve came to tell me his celebration at Old Trafford wasn’t about me,” Leach said, according to the Daily Mail.
“I didn’t know if it was or wasn’t but I was kind of hoping it was because I thought it was a good laugh.”

Leach added that he probably “deserved some stick” after footage emerged of him re-enacting his one not out at Headingley after the third Test.
A picture of Smith and Leach both wearing glasses was shared on social media by the England and Wales Cricket Board.
The caption read: “An all-time great - and Steve Smith ... Leachy loves the glasses.”
