Australia coach Justin Langer could only put his head in his hands as Tim Paine’s dismal DRS record continued on Saturday.

Joe Denly was on 54 and Jos Buttler 19 when Mitch Marsh and Nathan Lyon respectively struck them on the pads.

Replays showed both balls, given not out, hitting the stumps enough for the on-field decisions to be overturned.

Tim Paine’s dismal DRS record continued with Joe Denly and Jos Buttler making him pay

Denly made 94 and Buttler 47. ‘I’m getting it wrong, I don’t know what else to say,’ said Paine.

‘We’re having a ’mare.’ Perhaps it’s no surprise that Paine resisted.

Before this Test he had the second-worst record of all Test captains to have reviewed more than 30 decisions, getting 87 per cent of his DRS referrals incorrect.
