Opting to bat first, Kerala lost their skipper Robin Uthappa in the fourth over which brought Samson in the middle. The wicket-keeper batsman, who has been in spectacular form this form, kept up his good run to make it big when his team needed the most.

Sanju Samson looked in fine touch right from the start of the innings and played shots at will dominating a weak Goa bowling attack. Although he lost Vishnu Vinod at the other end, Samson went hard and was desperate to make it a big one.

He partnered another experienced batter Sachin Baby and the duo toiled with the Goa bowling. However, Sanju Samson was the aggressor of the two. He brought his maiden First-Class hundred in style and then marched towards 150; notching it up in just 99 deliveries.

Sensing an opportunity of a double century, Sanju Samson took calculative risks to inch closer to the landmark. In the meantime, Sachin Baby brought a fine hundred as Kerala crossed the 300-run mark. After struggling a bit in the nervous 90s, Samson brought his double hundred with a six and a single to register a unique record.

The Kerala batter’s knock included 20 boundaries and seven sixes during his 125 balls stay in the middle. Kerala have posted a mammoth total, making things tough for Goa to chase down.
