3 players who can replace Virat Kohli for Bangladesh T20I series
1. Suryakumar Yadav
One of the most notable and exorbitant names in the domestic T20 circuit in India, Suryakumar Yadav has grown to become a household name. The right-handed batsman has shown his range of skills from opening the innings when needed for the Mumbai Indians to batting at No.3 and as the floater for the team.
In the recently concluded IPL, the right-hander has amassed 424 runs in 16 innings at an average of nearly 27 runs an innings. Further, Yadav was one of the mainstays in the Mumbai unit in their 2018/19 Syed Mushtaq Ali tournament. Yadav is more than a handy batsman and equally a capable fielder.
2. Sanju Samson
Sanju Samson returned to familiar teammates in the form of Rajasthan Royals and took just one season for the right-hander to turn up his performance. The right-handed batsman has emerged as one of the leading Indian run-scorers in the recently concluded IPL, with nearly 342 runs under his umbrella in just 12 innings.
The 24-year-old is again not a new name in the Indian T20 circuit, with consistent runs in every IPL. Samson who has got the approval of Rahul Dravid in the past showed this IPL what he is capable of, with only his fitness coming to question in the recent past. With his fitness being an issue in the past, will Samson cement his place in the absence of Virat Kohli?
3. Shubman Gill
Shubman Gill falls way back in the list of the batsmen that could replace Virat Kohli when it comes to figures. However, his style of play and his form could certainly come to talks when his name is discussed by the selectors. Easily one of the most graceful batsmen to have played for India in the recent past, the right-hander has not had it easy for the Indian team.
In the two games that Gill has played for the country, he could only score 16 runs, which would be considered as a failure in the country. However, apart from just reading the batsman on those two games, the youngster has shone his way in the IPL for the Kolkata Knight Rider. Despite Gill playing at No. 5 and 6 for most parts of the season, he managed to score 296 runs in 14 games.
