India batting first managed to score 148 runs in 20 overs after losing the toss. But this was just a par score to defend at this ground. Bangladeshi wicket-keeper batsman set up the tack to chase this target. He remained not out till last in his inning of 60 runs.
In the end, Target was not good enough for the hosts to defend and they lost the first match of the series. Here we take a look at the 3 possible reasons why India lost the match.
1. Shikhar Dhawan run out shifted the momentum
Shikhar Dhawan was the only batsman who looking in good touch in yesterday's match. He scored 40 runs before he got run out due to Rishabh Pant's fault. Shikhar Dhawan could have added more runs to the Indian score if he didn't get run out.
All this happened in the 15th over of the first inning, When Rishabh Pant knocked the ball gently towards the mid-wicket. Both the players completed the first run with ease. But after taking the first run, Rishabh Pant called Shikhar Dhawan for the 2nd run but he sends him back after Dhawan came in the middle of the pitch. Shikhar Dhawan was well settled. He could have added more runs but he made walk towards the pavilion.
2. Krunal Pandya dropped the catch of M Rahim
This was the biggest moment that could have changed the result of the match. Bangladesh needed 35 runs from the last 3 overs and on the 3rd ball of the 18th over Krunal Pandya dropped the catch of Mushfiqur Rahim. This was the moment when India could have made more pressure on Bangladesh in last overs.
It was an easy catch for the Pandya but resulted in the boundary. Mushfiqur Rahim after that smashed 4 consecutive boundaries in next over of Khaleel Ahmed and took his team the maiden victory over on India in T20I.
3. Khaleel Ahmed's 18 runs over
India was in a controlled position until 18 over. But 19th over guaranteed the win for Bangladesh. Mushifiqur Rahim smashed 4 consecutive boundaries to Khaleel Ahmed in 19th over when they needed 22 runs in the last 2 overs.
The match was totally in hands of Bangladesh now. They just needed 4 runs from the last over and they chased down the target with 3 balls remaining.
Two matches are still to go in this series. India can still make a comeback and win the series. Next 2 matches are two played at Rajkot (7th November) and Nagpur (10th November)
