After A Lot Of Speculation Of A Possible Terror Threat, Sri Lanka Are Finally Touring Pakistan
Sri Lanka are going to Pakistan as scheduled. The ICC has confirmed the news..
The SLC had sought the government's help to reassess the security situation in Pakistan.
This decision was apparently taken after there was a warning of a possible terror threat to the team while on tour.
Earlier 10 players decided not to go due to security concerns.
They were Lasith Malinga, Niroshan Dickwella, Kusal Janith Perera, Dhananjaya De Silva, Thisara Perera, Akila Dhananjaya, Angelo Mathews, Suranga Lakmal, Dinesh Chandimal and Dimuth Karunaratne.
Back in 2009 the team was headed to the Lahore stadium for a Test when terrorists attacked their bus. Eight people died and seven Sri Lankan players and staff were injured.
Since then, no high-profile team has toured Pakistan.
Sri Lanka did go back in 2017 to play one T20I.
The upcoming series will consist of three ODIs and 3 T20Is.
The first ODI is on September 27 in Karachi.
