Aiden Markram Turns Sherlock Holmes To Solve The Curious Case Of Lost Ball During Vizag Test
After a tame loss in the third and final T20I, the Indian cricket team couldn't have begun the three-match Test series against South Africa any better. Taking the Proteas bowling to the task, openers Rohit Sharma (176) and Mayank Agarwal (215) gave the hosts a solid start on the back of a brilliant 317-run partnership.
The visitors eventually got their breakthrough in the 82nd over and a few quick wickets did bring them back into the game, but the day clearly belonged to Indian batsmen who were rarely troubled by the opposition bowlers. As India continued to pile up more runs, a hilarious incident unfolded during the second day's play.
A wide delivery down the leg side by spinner Keshav Maharaj trickled down for four byes. But, as the fielders went on to retrieve the ball, its whereabouts remained unknown to many. No one really had any clue as to where the ball had landed after hitting the ropes. The Proteas fielders looked between the advertisement hoardings and covers but to no avail.
And, as curiosity reached an all-time high, Aiden Markram stepped up like Sherlock Holmes and successfully solved the curious case of the missing ball at the ACA-VDCA Stadium in Visakhapatnam. The ball was stuck between the two advertisement paddings of the boundary rope and Markram, with some help from the live feed on the giant screen, rushed to the spot and retrieved it.
