Team India will look to consolidate their top position in the ICC World Test Championship in the upcoming Test series against South Africa. Speaking ahead of the first Test, vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane has revealed the team combinations for the Visakhapatnam Test.

Rahane, who was under tremendous pressure in the Caribbeans delivered when India needed the most. He ended a 17-Test run of not scoring a hundred with an 81 and 102 in the first Test in Antigua. Ajinkya Rahane kept up his excellent run with good scores in the second Test as well as India won the series 2-0.

He will look to continue his form in the upcoming spring as India will be keen to inflict a whitewash over South Africa. Speaking about the difficult phase of his life, Rahane said that he didn’t work much on his technique to regain his form.

“From outside it may look easy, for me it was about believing in my ability. Not thinking about the technical stuff, it was all about how I make the mental adjustment like handling difficult situations,” Rahane said.

The wicket in Visakhapatnam looks like a falt one with spinners coming into play in the later stages. So far, this ground has hosted only one Test match in 2016 against England where India crushed the visitors by a massive margin bringing in quality spinners.

Ajinkya Rahane also spoke on the same lines. He said that it is highly unlikely that they will come out with three fast bowlers in the first Test considering it is a sub-continent wicket.

“Depending on the conditions we will decide the combination. Hanuma (who bats at 6) can also bowl some spin and that makes a difference. In India, we hardly see three pacers playing,” he concluded.
