It has been a sensational season for the Australian wicketkeeper Alex Carey. After making a sensational world cup debut in ICC World Cup 2019, now, he once again creates waves in domestic cricket. The stylish southpaw pulled out a stunning catch behind the stumps to dismiss Matt Renshaw.
It was in the Sheffield match between Queensland and South Australia when Wes Agar was bowling at a full-throttle at Queensland openers. He already got better of Joe Burns, who was dismissed plumb in front of the wicket. Wes Agar picked 3 wickets:
It was in the 19th over of the game when Wes Agar bowled it on the hips of the batsman. On any day, Matt Renshaw would put that away with tickle down the fine-leg for a boundary. In the same way, he did it again facing Agar but then came Alex Carey into the frame, diving to his non-dominant side to pull out a stunner.
Soon after, Usman Khawaja also walked back to the pavilion thus leaving Queensland in an area of bother. It was once again Wes Agar, who bagged the wicket thus making his tally of wickets to three. Now, Queensland will rely their hopes on Ashes star Marnus Labuschagne.
Earlier in the match, South Australia were bundled out for 221 runs on the board. Apart from Thomas and Tom Cooper, none of the batsmen from South Australia succeeded in crossing 50-run mark on the board. Michael Neser was the wrecker-in-chief, who picked 5 wickets to his name.
All in all, at the end of the day, the game was slightly in favour of Queensland. At the end of Day 1 stumps, Queensland trial by 151 runs with 7 wickets in hand.
