He made history in Test cricket as soon as Ravichandran Ashwin dismissed De Bruyne in the fifth day of play. This was Ashwin's first in this innings and the eighth wicket in the match.
It is worth noting that till this match against South Africa, Ravichandran Ashwin had 342 wickets in 65 Test matches in his account. But in the first innings against South Africa, Ashwin spent 145 runs in 46.2 overs, taking 7 wickets.
On taking the eighth wicket on the fifth day, Ashwin also managed to take the fastest 350 wickets in the history of Test cricket.
Ashwin took his 350th Test wicket in the 66th innings. Now Ravichandran Ashwin has come first in the joint position with Sri Lankan Muttiah Muralitharan in terms of taking the fastest 350 wickets.

In third place are New Zealand's Richard Hadley and South Africa's Dale Steyn, who have played 69 matches for 350 wickets. India's veteran spin bowler Anil Kumble, who took 350 wickets in 77 matches, is ranked ninth.
