Pakistan team ‘disappoints’ again – Shoaib Akhtar
Pakistan’s dismal 2019 record in the shortest format continues with another series defeat. Pakistan, who are ranked No 1 in ICC Twenty20 rankings, have lost eight out of their nine completed matches this year. Earlier this year, South Africa defeated the ‘Men in Green’ 2-1 in a home series. The Sarfaraz Ahmed-led side then toured England for limited-overs contest, which saw the visitors losing the only T20I by 7 wickets. They were then whitewashed by an inexperienced Sri Lankan line-up in home conditions. Strings of T20I defeats led to heavy changes within the team, including the sacking of Sarfaraz Ahmed from captaincy. However, the change in leadership failed to make any impact as Babar Azam failed to lead Pakistan, resulting in another series defeat ‘Down Under’.
After their 10-wicket defeat to Australia at Perth, former Pakistani speedster Shoaib Akhtar took to social media to express his disappointment. In a video shared by Akhtar, the former cricketer said that losing another series is a “sad scenario” for the team. Akhtar also wished “best of luck” to the Pakistani team as they have only 8-9 T20I games left before the ICC T20 World Cup kicks-off in Australia next year.
