They played the first T20I of this series on last Sunday (27th October) at Adelaide Oval (Adelaide). Australia thrashed Sri Lanka in that game as the hosts scored 233/2 (20 overs) after losing the toss. Later, the visitors only managed to score 99/9 (20 overs) as the hosts won that game by 134 runs. While it was Australia’s largest T20I victory, it was also the largest T20I defeat for Sri Lanka.

With this victory, Australia are taking the 1-0 lead in this T20I series with two to go. Another victory in this series will help the Australian team to win the home T20I bilateral series against Sri Lanka for the first time. Before this series, they played three T20I bilateral series in Australia (including one-off T20I), and Sri Lanka won all those series.

The Aussie bowlers equally dominated in that game. Apart from the leg-spinner ‘s three wickets (3/14), the pacers (2/18) and (2/27) also scalped two wickets each.

-led inexperienced Sri Lankan team totally surrendered in front of the hosts during the Adelaide T20I. Neither the Sri Lankan bowlers performed well with the ball nor the visiting batsmen were able to score runs. The visitors don’t want to repeat that discouraging performance in the Brisbane T20I.

We can see some changes in the Sri Lankan playing XI during the Brisbane T20I.

In his last eight T20Is as captain, Lasith Malinga has suffered seven defeats. Surely, the most T20I wicket-taker is desperate to change his recent hard luck as a T20I captain.
