img team has confirmed their tour of , which promises to help them gain experience ahead of the ICC next year. The team will play five Youth ODIs from September 29 to October 13, all of them taking place at the Bert Sutcliffe Oval in Lincoln.
This is the first time a Bangladesh team will tour New Zealand after the Christchurch mosque shootings earlier in March this year. It was the time when the Bangladesh senior team was in New Zealand for three ODIs and three Tests and had to abandon the final game in Christchurch due to the attack. The players were about 50 yards away from the mosque when a gunman opened fire.
The tour was first scheduled to take place in April 2019 but it was cancelled by New Zealand cricket believing it would have been "insensitive and inappropriate" to have an age-group side touring the country for cricket.
Bangladesh are coming off a good Under-19 Asia Cup campaign where they reached the final but lost to India by a narrow margin of five runs. From that squad, Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Shahin Alam and Minhazur Rahman have been left out and been replaced by Asadullah Hill Galib, Avishek Das, Shamim Hossain while Hasan Morad is a new addition. Akbar Ali will continue to lead the side.
