Cricket Australia has made a radical change to the Supe over rule. In case of a tied super over in the final of Big Bash League, the two teams will continue to play super overs unless a clear winner is decided. The rule seems to have been altered in wake of the controversy that happened in the final of World Cup 2019.

Earlier in the final of World Cup, an overthrow had also drawn limelight. A throw from Martin Guptill deflected off Ben Stokes’ bat and ran towards the boundary. England were awarded six runs instead of five. This rule will also be up for discussion soon.

The upcoming season of Big Bash League will kick off on December 17 with Brisbane Heat taking on Sydney Thunder in Brisbane. The final of the tournament will be played on February 8 next year.

Prior to the season, there have been number of changes in the squads. Nathan Coulter-Nile has left Perth Scorchers and signed a long-term deal with Melbourne Stars. Shaun Marsh has also left Perth to join Melbourne Renegades.
