Rishabh Pant's brain fade behind the stumps in the Rajkot T20I became an instant talking point on the internet as the under-fire wicketkeeper once again managed to stage his immatureness by handing a lifeline to Bangladesh opener Liton Das. Stakes were high as India had their back against the wall in the penultimate clash against the Bangla Tigers in Rajkot on Thursday. Wounds of the series opener defeat at the hands of the visitors were still afresh when Rohit Sharma and Co. welcomed Mehmudallah's men at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium.

Opting to field first, India witnessed an intense powerplay courtesy Tigers openers Das and Soumya Sarkar. The opening duo attacked the Indian pace bowling unit led by Khaleed Ahmed and Deepak Chahar with full intensity in the opening powerplay. At a time where India were desperate for an early breakthrough, opener Das handed an early opportunity to Rohit and Co. to draw first blood in the seventh over bowled by Yuzvenrda Chahal.

The Bangladesh opening batsman served the platform of a freak event when he was beaten by Chahal in the fifth ball of the over. Eyeing another boundary, Das came down the track to slog the Indian spinner and was puzzled by the Chahal's eg break completely. The mistimed shot managed to set up a stumping chance and Pant was quick to remove the zig bails in a flash. Das was well out of the crease and there was brainer that he has been stumped by the Indian wicketkeeper.

However, the decision went in favour of the batsman and Pant's wicketkeeping shortcoming was exposed once again. Though Pant had removed the stumps in a flash, the Indian stumper's manoeuvre was termed illegal because of collecting the ball in front of the wickets. As a result, Das was adjudged not out and a no-ball was also called by the match umpire at the time. Despite the error, the Indian stumper had the last laugh as he managed to run out Das for 29 off 21 balls in the eight over.
