HYDERABAD: With the Hyderabad cricket team set to play the Vijay Hazare Trophy and the management gearing up for elections, cases of conflict of interest among staff and office bearers of clubs are coming to the fore.

One cricket follower has pointed out the case of N. Arjun Yadav (son of N. Shivlal Yadav, former Test player, Hyderabad Cricket Association secretary and interim president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India) in a mail to the Committee of Administrators of the HCA as well as the BCCI, the national board CEO and Electoral Officer V. S. Sampath.

“N. Arjun Yadav, the coach of the Hyderabad cricket team, is also a playing member of an institutional club — Andhra Bank — which plays professional cricket in the Hyderabad ‘A’ Division League, while also being the secretary of India Cements Club. Both clubs are voting members of the HCA which puts forth a clear case of conflict of interest in more than one way,” the mail reads.

“As per Lodha Reforms and BCCI Constitution it is stated that conflict of interest might take any of the stated forms: Position of influence — when the individual holds any stake, voting rights or power to influence the decisions of a franchisee / club / team that participates in the commercial league(s) under BCCI. It is clearly a violation and conflict of interest as (player & coach) + (coach & club secretary) + (player & club secretary),” the mail read.
