Coaching Centre take on Mahajan Club in final
Our Sports Correspondent Ludhiana, November 6 Mahajan Club and Coaching Centre set up the title clash in the U-14 category in the cricket tournament being organised by the Ludhiana District Cricket Association (LDCA) for its trainees to provide them match practice. Four teams in the U-14 section and three in the U-12 category are taking part in this tournament being held here at GRD Academy on Hambran Road. On Wednesday, Coaching Centre defeated Mahajan Club by 58 runs. With this, both the teams won two matches each to make it to the final whereas two other teams, Pankaj Club and National Club, with one match each and are out of contention. In the last league match, batting first, Coaching Centre scored a decent total of 197 runs for the loss of six wickets in 40 overs in which the main contributions came through Sidarth Sharma (66), Samarth (35), Dev Rajput (30), Vansh Goel (27) and Dhruv Sachdeva (14). For Mahajan Club, Vivek Pandit took two wickets for 22 runs while Mankaran, Anmoljit Singh and Rohan Gakhar chipped in with one wicket each after conceding 30, 38 and 41 runs, respectively. Target set by the Coaching Centre turned out to be huge one as Mahajan Club wilted under pressure as their reply culminated at 139 runs in 35.4 overs. Karanvir Rana was the highest scorer with 38 runs while Suvesh Bhandari made 26 runs, Kanish Suri and Vivek Pandit contributed 12 runs each whereas Anmoljit Singh remained unbeaten on 11 runs. For the winning side, Sidharth Sharma, Jugraj Singh and Vansh Goel captured two wickets each after giving away 20, 20 and 27 runs, respectively, while Shubham Rana grabbed one wicket for 32 runs.
