CPL 2019: Fabian Allen sets up St Kitts and Nevis Patriots' 20-run win over Jamaica Tallawahs
Fabian Allen starred with the bat as St Kitts and Nevis Patriots beat Jamaica Tallawahs by 20 runs in the 16th match of the 2019 Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL) at the Sabina Park, Kingston in Jamaica on Thursday.
Put in to bat, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots lost both their openers - Devon Thomas and Evin Lewis - early. But the pair of Laurie Evans and Mohammad Hafeez added 46 runs for the third wicket before the former was run out for 21.
St Kitts and Nevis Patriots' innings was then derailed as Jamaica Tallawahs struck thrice in quick succession to reduce Patriots to 82/6, dismissing Hafeez (37), Shamarh Brooks (6) and Carlos Brathwaite (3).
However, Allen and Keron Cottoy then joined forces and dashed Tallawahs' plans to wrap up Patriots innings quickly. The two put up a 94-run partnership in 47 balls to power their side to 176/6.
While Cottoy chipped in with 27 not out off 23 balls, Allen did the damage, hammering an unbeaten 62 from 27 balls, hitting seven fours and three sixes.

Chasing 177 runs to win, Tallawahs did not enjoy the brightest of the start as Sheldon Cottrell struck in the third over to dismiss for one.
While Glenn Phillips kept the scoreboard ticking, Alzarri Joseph kept Tallawahs in check, dismissing Chadwick Walton and Dwayne Smith for 1 and 4 runs respectively.
Imran Khan then joined Phillips in the middle as the two added 69 runs and Tallawahs looked in control of the chase. But they lost the plot as they lost four wickets for 16 runs, including that of Phillips, who had slammed 87 off 49 balls, hitting eight fours and five sixes.
Although Shamar Springer kept Tallawahs' hopes alive, his 30-run innings were too little too late as St Kitts and Nevis Patriots registered their fourth win.
Brief scores: St Kitts and Nevis Patriots 176/6 (Fabian Allen 62 not out, Mohammad Hafeez 37; Andre Russell 1/17) beat Jamaica Tallawahs (Glenn Phillips 87, Shamar Springer 30; Rayad Emrit 2/21 ) by 20 runs.
