Danielle Wyatt hails Rohit Sharma after Hitman's heroics in Vizag Test against South Africa
England women's cricket team star Danielle Wyatt was all praise for Rohit Sharma after the Hitman's heroics in his debut Test as an opener against South Africa. Rohit announced his arrival as a Test opener in style with back-to-back centuries against the Faf du Plessis-led side in the first Test of the ongoing three-match series in Vizag. Rohit was the top-run scorer for India in the game and was deservingly awarded the Man of the Match.
Rohit was roped in as an opener ahead of the home Test series after KL Rahu was dropped due to poor form in the whites. The Hitman grabbed the opportunity with both hands and silenced his critics in style with a stunning 176-run-knock in the first innings. He combined with double-centurion Mayank Agarwal to post a record stand of 317 runs for the first wicket as the duo powered India to an emphatic total of 502 runs.
South Africa, in reply, rode on centuries from Dean Elgar and Quinton de Kock to post 431 runs in their first innings leaving India with a moderate lead of 71 runs. Rohit ponce again took the onus of scoring fast and heavy in the second innings and slammed a magnificent 149-ball 127 to combine with Cheteshwar Pujara (81) in helping India post a string total of 323 runs on the board. South Africa crumbled under pressure in the 395-run chase and were skittled out for 191 as India won the game by 203 runs.
Wyatt, who seems to be a big fan of the Indian cricket team, took to Instagram to post a story dedicating it to Rohit after his stupendous show with the bat. "Rohit what a player," she wrote in her story.
Rohit finished the Test match with a staggering 303 runs under his belt. He would be looking to continue his fine form in the second Test which gets underway on Thursday. With the comprehensive victory, India are now on top of the points table in the World Test Championship with three wins in a row.
