Deepak Chahar Appointed Vice-Captain, Mahipal Lomror To Lead Team Rajasthan In Vijay Hazare Trophy 2019/20
Youngster Mahipal Lomror will be leading Team Rajasthan in the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy 2019/20. He has led Team Rajasthan in Ranji Trophy and it will be the first time that the former U-19 cricketer will be leading his state in the List A cricket. He will be assisted by team India’s T20I pacer Deepak Chahar, who is currently on national duty.
Chahar will be available right from the opening game of the season on September 24 as India’s T20I series against South Africa ends on September 22.
Rahul Chahar, Deepak’s brother, has also bee included in the squad and will be available for his state team. Apart from them, Khaleel Ahmed has also been named in the squad. The trio is a part of South Africa T20Is and will be available for their state team right after the series.
They are expected to be available for the whole tournament as India do not play any white-ball cricket during this period.
Aniket Choudhary and Tanveer-ul–Haq are other senior players in Team Rajasthan. The latter recently played Duleep Trophy for India Green.
The likes of Pankaj Singh and Nathu Singh were unavailable for selection due to respective injuries, a report in TOI had suggested a few days back. Pankaj had played for Puducherry last year but is back in the Rajasthan fold.
Team Rajasthan face in their opening game of the season. They will face Jammu and Kashmir, Gujarat, Bengal, Tripura, Railways, Services, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh in their next league stage matches.
In 2018/19, Rajasthan had a poor run as they lost seven out of nine matches in the league stage and could not qualify for the second round.
