HIGHLIGHTS

  • Dinesh Karthik took a superb catch to get rid of Parthiv Patel in the 9th over
  • India B posted 283 for 7 in 50 overs thanks to Kedar Jadhav's 83 and Yashasvi Jaiswal's 54
  • Ishan Porel was the pick of the bowlers for India C, with the right-arm pacer grabbing 5 wickets for 43 runs

Out-of-favour India wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik may not be on the selectors' radar in the limited-overs sides but the 34-year-old is leaving no-stone-unturned and grinding it out in the domestic circuit to try and make his way back in the national team.

And Karthik gave another glimpse of his brilliant glovework on Monday as he took a superb catch in the ongoing Deodhar Trophy match between India B and India C.

Batting first India B got off to a poor start when opener Ruturaj Gaikwad got out for a duck in the first over itself. And their start got even worse in the 9th over when Parthiv Patel edged a delivery from Ishan Porel only to see Karthik diving full-stretch to his left to take a stunning one-handed catch.

The ball was flying towards first slip but would have fallen short of the fielder which is why Karthik decided to go for the catch himself and successfully managed to grab hold of the ball.

Fans on social media immediately started sharing the video of the catch with some mentioning how Karthik can come back in the side in place of Rishabh Pant, who has been struggling to fire with the bat and his wicketkeeping skills are also not up to the mark yet.

Despite the early blows, India B managed to post a decent 283 for 7 in 50 overs thanks to Kedar Jadhav's 94-ball 83 and 17-year-old Yashasvi Jaiswal's 54. Lower-order contributions from Vijay Shankar (45) and Krishnappa Gowtham (35 not out) also proved crucial for the Parthiv-led team.

Ishan Porel was the pick of the bowlers for India C, with the right-arm fast bowler grabbing 5 wickets for 43 runs from 10 overs while Jalaj Saxena and Axar Patel managed a wicket each.
