Get ready for the thrill of IPL 2020, IPL will start from this date
Important dates have been announced for the 13th season of the Indian Premier League next year. The players auction for IPL-13 will be held on 19 December this year. This time also the auction date has been chosen only in December. Players are usually auctioned the same year the tournament is held. But this time also, like last year, players will be auctioned in December. The BCCI has also changed the venue of the auction this year. The players are usually auctioned in Bangalore, but this time in Kolkata.
Players to be auctioned on December 19
This time the players auction is not expected to be as grand as before. This is because from the year 2021 all franchises will have to choose their team afresh. So this time it is not being considered as big. In such a situation, it is believed that all the franchises will try to give the finishing touch to their existing teams in this auction. In the IPL auction held last year, all eight franchises were allowed to retain their five players.
Although no announcement has been made as to how many players the franchise can retain in the auction to be held in December this year, the Indian Premier League Governing Council is supposed to retain the maximum number of players. According to ESPNcricinfo, trading windows for IPL-13 (IPL-13) will close on November 14. Prior to this, the franchise would have to swap their respective players.
70 places, 351 players
If we talk about the IPL auction held last year, there were 70 vacancies in all the teams, for which 351 players were competing. Of these, 60 players were purchased, of which 20 were foreigners and 40 were Indian players. Fast bowler Jaydev Unadkat and mystery spinner Varun Chakraborty were the highest buys for Rs 8.4 crore. Unadkat was bought by Rajasthan Royals, while Varun was associated with Kings XI Punjab.
