He was included in the Pakistan team for the first time in the 2007 T20 World Cup. In this tournament he took 6 wickets in 6 matches. His batting was also widely discussed, but he got his chance to bat for the first time in the tournament in the final match.
During this, he raised the hopes of Pakistan's victory against Sreesanth by hitting two sixes in the 18th over. However, he was out on the last ball of this over. After this tournament, he could not play cricket for 1 year due to injury.
