India completed a complete whitewash of South Africa in Tests as the home side crushed the visitors by an innings and 202 runs to register third straight win in the series. India were always the favourites to win the series but Virat Kohli and co played with sheer dominance, giving nothing to South Africa.

The spinners kicked off the proceedings well for India and the pacers also joined the party. Among batsmen, Rohit Sharma was the top pick along with Mayank Agarwal and Kohli himself.

The Indian skipper was in all praise for the Indian team and exulted immense confidence that India can win anywhere, be it England, Australia or South Arica.

“It’s great to see when you operate in such away. Even not with much experience, we believe we can win anywhere in the world. We can win anywhere, England, Australia, South Africa, good things are going to follow. I agree with him (Ravi Shastri). The game responds to hard work and mindset. We have been doing well in the limited-over formats too,” he said.

While team India did dominate South Africa at home, the team is yet to win a series in England and South Africa under Kohli. They travelled to both the countries last year but lost the Test series.

India though created history in Australia earlier this year as they became the first Asian team to defeat Australia Down Under.

Since the tours of South Arica and England were Kohli’s first as captain, India are likely to come up with improved performances when they travel there next.

Talking of the series, Rohit Sharma was the biggest find. For the first six years of his Test career, he was in and out of the side as a middle-order batsman but give the job to open the innings, the experienced campaigner scored 529 runs to grab the opportunity with both the hands.

He scored three centuries (which included one double-century) and also broke oodles of records.

While team Indias opening conundrum seems solved for now, the opening batsmen will have a tough challenge against New Zealand when they travel there next year.

Up next India will take on Bangladesh in two Test matches. Before that, they will host the Shakib-al-Hasan and co in three T20Is.
