ICC Plans To Host India vs Pakistan Warm-Up Game Ahead Of ICC T20I World Cup 2020
For the first time, the International Cricket Council has put India and Pakistan in the different groups. However, in order to bring the excitement to the trophy, the Apex body is planning to arrange a T20I fixture between India and Pakistan during warm-up games. However, BCCI might not agree to the proposal of such an event.
A recent report in the Times of India suggests that the ICC’s governing body is in strong favour of the idea but is yet to get in touch with the BCCI. However, those who are aware of things are clear that no such requests will be entertained by the BCCI and its members.
Usually, the International Cricket Council has always made sure to have Pakistan and India stay in the similar group during ICC events. Likewise, Australia and New Zealand as well. They make sure the rivals play during the world event, which has always been an entertaining clash for the cricketing fanatics.
Wonder, who comes up with these ideas – BCCI source
However, surprisingly, for the upcoming ICC T20I World Cup 2020, the board didn’t take that decision. Criticising the same, one of the sources added that how pointless do the officials work when they prepare the fixtures. None would have questioned if they were put in the same group earlier, now, the board want their game in the warm-up to get excitement.
“Wonder who comes up with these brilliant ideas there? First, they went and brought out the schedule of the 2020 World T20 almost two years in advance. And now, they want a warm-up game to create excitement,” a source told the leading daily.
Amidst all, the Board of Control for Cricket in India is facing a tough time with the International Cricket Council at the moment. Both the boards are failing to end up on even terms, as the Apex body is pretty happy to go with their decision while BCCI is strongly opposing the idea of the International Cricket Council regarding flagship event every year from 2023.
