ICC Ranking: Virat Kohli is likely to passed Smith, Mayank Agarwal's long jump
ICC rankings have released the latest test rankings. Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli has reached very close to the top Australian batsman Steve Smith in the ICC Test rankings. Kohli is now just 1 run behind Smith.
The world number one ODI batsman will have a chance to overtake Steve Smith in the last match of the series against South Africa played in Ranchi from 19 October. Kohli had a brilliant innings of 254 runs in the Pune test against South Africa.
The ranking of Indian opener Mayank Agarwal has also improved. He has reached the top 20. Agarwal, who scored 108 runs in the second Test against South Africa, has reached 17th place. Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane are fourth and ninth respectively. Apart from Kohli, these two are the other Indian batsmen in the top 10.
In bowling, Ravichandran Ashwin has also gained three places. He is now in seventh place, while Bumrah is still in third place.
Talking about all-rounders, Ravindra Jadeja is in second place and West Indian captain Jason Holder is in first place. Ashwin is at number five.
Kohli came below 900 points for the first time since January 2018 after the first Test against South Africa. He has now reached 936 points, one point short of his career's best ranking. Kohli reached there in August last year.
