Idiot Of Cricket, F*** You – Bangladesh Fans Fill Michael Vaughan’s FB Message Box With Abuses For Asking A Long Ban On Shakib Al Hasan
Former England captain Michael Vaughan was one of the first former players to react to the two-year ban on Bangladesh’s captain Shakib Al Hasan and as per him, the star player deserved a longer punishment. Right from the moment he tweeted, Vaughan has been receiving backlash from Bangladesh’s fan. While some users have questioned his credentials, few fans have even abused him for his tweet.
Vaughan, the former England captain who played 82 Tests and 86 ODIs, decided to reveal the identities of users who have been abusing him. He put out a couple of screenshots of messages that he has received on Facebook. Here are the screenshots –
Vaughan is a cricket expert and travels across the globe to commentate on the game. Hence, he expressed his opinion on social media but has been receiving backlash from the fans.
Shakib was banned by ICC for a period of two years, but the apex board suspended the punishment for one year, which means that he can make his comeback to international cricket on October 29, 2020.
The 32-year-old was banned for failing to report three approaches made by a bookie in 2018. He was first approached during the tri-series in Bangladesh, which also involved Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka.Credits: BCCI
The bookie again approached him ahead of Sunrisers Hyderabad’s match against Kings XI Punjab during IPL 2018. Shakib performed quite well in the tri-series and in that IPL match but a failure in reporting the approach cost him.
ICC was in constant touch with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and the board started keeping him away from the practice sessions. On October 29, ICC announced its decision on the all-rounder.
The ban will also see him miss next year’s T20 World Cup, which kicks off on October 18. BCB might try to seek a two-week exemption for Shakib so as he can make a comeback for the World Cup.
