IND vs BAN: BCCI offers day-night Test match to Bangladesh Cricket Board
Eden Gardens, Kolkata
Bangladesh's second Test match on India tour will be at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The Board of Control for Cricket in India has proposed to make this match a day-night with a pink ball. However, Bangladesh Cricket Board has not taken any decision regarding this at the moment. According to a member of the BCB, the request has been received from the BCCI but they will take a decision soon.
BCB cricket operations chairman Akram Khan said that he has given us the offer but we will take a decision after thinking about it for a while. We have received a letter regarding this but we have not held any talks yet. We will make them aware of our decision in a day or two. BCB Chief Executive Nizamuddin Chaudhary said that there is no guarantee of organizing this Test match as it depends on the players and team management.
The Chief Executive of Bangladesh Cricket Board said that the team management and the players will have to talk about this test match. This is a technical matter. There is also a need to prepare for the Pink Ball Test match. Significantly, after becoming BCCI President, Sourav Ganguly had indicated to step towards organizing the Pink Ball Test. In this regard, he also spoke to Indian captain Virat Kohli. Kohli had also given his consent in this, hence the BCCI has given this proposal to Bangladesh Cricket Board. Many countries have organized day-night test matches but India is currently out of the list of those countries. It remains to be seen what the BCB decides on this.
