India will lock horns with South Africa in the first Test of the three-match series on Wednesday at the Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam. India will look to continue their winning momentum in the ongoing World Test Championship after whitewashing West Indies in the Carribean last month to square off their campaign on an emphatic note.

TOSS UPDATE | Indian skipper Virat Kohli wins toss and elects to bat first. Here's how the two Playing XIs look like:

IND XI: Rohit Sharma, Mayank Agarwal, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli(c), Ajinkya Rahane, Hanuma Vihari, Wriddhiman Saha(w), Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Shami

SA XI: Aiden Markram, Dean Elgar, Theunis de Bruyn, Temba Bavuma, Faf du Plessis(c), Quinton de Kock(w), Vernon Philander, Senuran Muthusamy, Keshav Maharaj, Dane Piedt, Kagiso Rabada

India defeated South Africa 3-0 in their last Test meeting at home. Faf du Plessis will be returning to lead the visitors after the missing the three-match T20I series which ended in a 1-1 draw. The onus will be on Du Plessis, Quinton de Kock and Aiden Markram to counter India's formidable bowling attack in their own backyard.

Youngster Temba Bavuma was impressive in the T20I series and will be looking to make his mark in the whites for the visitors. Meanwhile, the Indian batting line-up will have their task cut out against South Africa's potent pace attack consisting the likes of Kagiso Rabada, Lungi Ngidi and Vernon Philander. India will rely heavily on their top-order to fire with Rohit Sharma all set to open the innings with Mayank Agarwal.

It will be a litmus test for Rohit, who has been trusted to take the opening slot and replicate his white-ball form in the longest format of the game in KL Rahul's absence. Rishabh Pant has also been sent out a warning after being replaced by Wriddhiman Saha for the opener following a string of poor performances.
