New Delhi: Rishabh Pant, the young wicketkeeper-batsman of the Indian team, has not got a place in the playing eleven for the first Test against South Africa. Wriddhiman Saha replaced Pant in the last eleven. The poor performance in the recent limited over format had to be repaid by Pant from his place in the Test team.
Whether in bat or wicketkeeping, Pant's performance in Test matches has been phenomenal. The amazing thing is that in wicketkeeping, he broke the record of former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and in the last 1 year, he has more runs than Kohli. He was left out of the playing eleven against South Africa in the first Test match due to his recent performance in limited overs cricket.
Pant could not do much in the ODIs and T20s with the West Indies, while he failed to score in the T20 series against South Africa. Pant was not given a place in the last eleven in the first Test, making this performance a measure. Pant has scored at an average of 44 so far in Tests while ODIs and T20s have an average of 22.90 and 20.31 respectively. Pant's batting in the Test has shown consistent maturity. He has contributed to the team in the long format of cricket by continuously improving.
