India Vs Bangladesh 2019/20: Delhi T20I – Reports Suggest Two Bangladesh Players Vomited During The Match
Despite the huge chaos due to the unhealthy air condition, Delhi T20I finally held as per schedule. However, players faced enough trouble in that polluted air quality. According to media reports, even two Bangladesh players vomited on the field, including Soumya Sarkar.
On last Sunday (3rd November), the hosts India and the visitors Bangladesh played the opening T20I of the three-match T20I series at Arun Jaitley Stadium (Delhi). However, that T20I match was totally doubtful due to the Delhi Pollution.
Since Diwali 2019, Delhi’s air quality was continuously deteriorating. Just a few days ahead of the Delhi T20I, the Environment Pollution (Prevention and Control) Authority (EPCA) announced the public health emergency in Delhi.
While the Air Quality Index (AQI) above 500 means emergency, many places of Delhi had the 600+ AQI. On the morning of the match day, the situation was worst as some places of the capital city had the AQI 999. The visibility in that condition was very low. So, the match was expectedly in trouble.
But the air quality improved in the evening and the match was finally possible to run as per schedule time.
It was the historic 1,000th T20I where Bangladesh decided to field first after winning the toss. The Indian batsmen struggled in that game and they finally managed to score 148/6 in 20 overs.
Reports are claiming that Soumya Sarkar and another Bangladesh player vomited during the chasing
In reply, most of the Bangladesh batsmen played patiently and guided the team to the historic victory. Bangladesh chased down that target in 19.3 overs after losing three wickets. It was the first T20I victory for Bangladesh against India.
The experienced wicketkeeper-batsman played the major role for Bangladesh to win that game. Rahim scored 60 not out off 43 balls.
The left-handed batsman also scored the crucial 39 runs in that innings. During that successful chasing, Sarkar provided two crucial partnerships. He had the 46 runs partnership for the second wicket with the debutant opener Mohammad Naim. Later, Sarkar-Rahim added another 60 runs for the third wicket partnership.
According to ESPNcricinfo report, two Bangladesh batsmen vomited on the field during that chasing. The report also added that Soumya Sarkar was one of those victims.
