India vs Bangladesh 2nd T20I Hourly Weather Forecast: Will Cyclone Maha play spoilsport in Rajkot today?
The Indian cricket team saw Bangladesh secure a first-ever victory over them in a T20 International in Delhi as the visitors chased down the target of 149 without much trouble on Sunday. Be it batting or bowling, the Indian team failed to click as a unit and now trail the 3-match series 1-0. While Rohit Sharma and his men would be determined to make a comeback in the series by winning the third T20I, their hopes face a big threat in the form of Cyclone Maha which could play spoilsport in the match at Rajkot on Thursday.
As per a report by the Meteorological Department, Severe Cyclonic Storm (SCS) ‘Maha’ which is currently located over the Arabian Sea, is expected to cross the Gujarat coast around Diu as a Cyclonic Storm on Thursday afternoon. Although the skies are expected to be partly cloudy at present, the storm could lead to a ‘heavy’ or ‘very heavy’ rainfall in different cities across the state on Thursday. Rajkot could also be affected due to the same.
Furthermore, an orange-level alert was put for Rajkot on Wednesday. While are expected to get better by the time the match takes place, the chances of light to moderate rain still persist. Here's how the hourly weather forecast looks as of now:
The Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA) groundsman Mansukhbhai Terraiya had also confirmed to the Times of India of the rain threat leading to the match and had revealed that the entire ground will remain covered until the match due to high possibility of rainfall.
"We have very good drainage facility and an experienced ground staff who are capable of handling any emergency. We are just praying the rain is not too severe," he added. In the event of heavy rains, the outfield may be slow and scoring runs will not be easy. "Hitting boundaries would become difficult in such a situation as the ball may not travel very fast in the outfield,'' said Terraiya.
Further delving into the details of the pitch, he also revealed that the sheer absence of grass on the surface will make this match a run-fest.
The Indian fans will be keeping their fingers crossed hoping that the match takes place without any interruption. If for any unforeseen circumstances, the match gets abandoned, there would be no way for Team India to win the series.
