India vs South Africa 2019: Twitter Erupts As India Go 1-0 Up In The Series

Team India produced a scintillating effort with both bat and ball as they go 1-0 up in the three-match Test series against South Africa in Visakhapatnam. They defeated the host by 203 runs as they consolidate their top spot in the ICC World Test Championship.

After setting up a target of 395 runs; thanks to another century from Rohit Sharma and Cheteshwar Pujara’s 81, India got the all-important wicket of Dean Elgar as the host gave their bowlers 30 minutes t the end of day four to go hard at the South African batsman.

India looked absolutely fearless on day five as Ravichandran Ashwin provided the first breakthrough to scalp his 350th Test wicket. Since then it was all Mohammed Shami, who after finishing wicketless in the first innings, ran over the South African batting on the final day.

He bowled Temba Bavuma as the ball kept low before bowling two spectacular deliveries to get the better of South Africa skipper Faf du Plessis and Quinton de Kock. Du Plessis and de Kock looked in good touch in the first innings but had to surrender in front of Mohammed Shami.

Struggling at 60 for five, it was only time when India will walk away with the Test match but they looked in a hurry. Ravindra Jadeja scalped three consecutive wickets to leave South Africa in tatters at 70 for eight.

Since then, Dane Piedt and Senuran Muthusamy added 91 runs for the ninth to stretch the game after lunch before Mohammed Shami came back to get Piedt out after a well made 56-run knock. Shami finished off the proceedings with a five-wicket haul as got Kagiso Rabada finally to script India’s victory.
