India vs South Africa 2019
South Africa’s gun fielder David Miller pulled off the beautiful catch at long-on to dismiss Indian opener, Shikhar Dhawan. The southpaw batsman shimmied down the track to take on Tabraiz Shamsi. However, Dhawan could not get the height and Miller dived to his right to take a stunning catch. Subsequently, Indian skipper Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan were shell shock at Miller’s effort.
In fact, earlier in the day, Indian skipper had also taken a superb catch at mid-off to dismiss Quinton de Kock. Meanwhile, India cruised to a comfortable win of seven wickets as Kohli top-scored with 72 runs.
Subsequently, Kohli also overtook Rohit Sharma’s tally to become the highest run-getter in the shortest format of the game. Furthermore, the talismanic batsman scored his 22nd fifty in T20I and once again surpassed Rohit Sharma’s 21 fifties.
Indian skipper Virat Kohli was able to get into his stride as he scored two beautiful boundaries to get going. The talismanic batsman didn’t give a sniff to the Proteas bowlers as he batted with control. Iyer was also able to hit the ground running as he continued his good form going.
Kohli timed the ball to perfection as he batted at the top of his game to bring up his 22nd T20I fifty. On the other hand, Shreyas Iyer was able to give good support to his skipper.
Earlier, South Africa posted 149 runs on the board after Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to field first. The visitors got off to a decent start as Quinton de Kock and Reeza Hendricks added 31 runs for the opening stand.
Thus, it was a fine start for India and they take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. The third and final T20I will take place in Bangalore on 22nd September.
