Blog | Scorecard
Skipper Virat Kohli produced a batting masterclass as India defeated South Africa by seven wickets in the 2nd T20I in Mohali to go 1-0 up in the three-match series. Chasing a moderate 150-run target on a batting friendly track, India crossed the line with six balls to spare. After Shikhar Dhawan (40) and Rohit Sharma (12) provided a brisk start, Kohli capatilized and led the India chase from the front. With 4 fours and 3 sixes, Kohli scored and unbeaten 72, slamming his 22nd T20I fifty to take India across the line. Rishabh Pant (4) was the only disappointment in the innings as once again he gave away his wicket, playing carelessly. Earlier, a disciplined bowling helped India restrict the visitors to 149 for five in 20 overs.

Pacers displayed a brilliant spell of death bowling as India restricted South Africa to 149/5 in the second T20I at the PCA stadium in Mohali on Wednesday. Put into bat after losing the toss, South Africa got off to a brisk start with Quinton de Kock doing most of the scoring. De Kock, who was making his captaincy debut led the team from front, smacking a 37-ball fifty while adding 57 runs with Temba Bavuma. But soon after De Kock's departure, South Africa batting looked jittery as Bavuma and David Miller struggled against the Indian bowlers. Wickets at regular intervals along with disciplined bowling towards the end helped India apply brakes on South Africa's charge. However 16 runs off the final over from Navdeep Saini helped South Africa post a respectable total on a batting friendly wicket. For India, Deepak Chahar picked up a couple of wickets while Hardik Pandya, Navdeep Saini and Ravindra Jadeja chipped in with a wicket apiece.
