RANCHI: The Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) has decided to distribute tickets to the third India versus South Africa Test among the men in uniform free of cost.

“We have set aside around five thousand tickets to the match for our CRPF jawans, armymen and NCC cadets,” JSCA secretary Sanjay Sahay told TOI.

“It is our tribute to the men in uniform,” he added. “We have also distributed tickets among schoolchildren in different districts.”

STICKY WICKET

On a tour where not too many things have gone their way, South Africa’s Ranchi sojourn started with a hitch on Tuesday, when the cricketers had to get down from the bus and walk to the team hotel upon arrival in the city. Apparently, the bus got stuck at the hotel gate.

The Proteas have been put up at a hotel around thirteen kilometres from JSCA International Cricket Stadium, the venue for the third Test, while Virat Kohli & Co. are lodged around nine kilometres away.

Generally, both sides stay at the hotel Team India is in but that could not happen this time because of a doctors’ conference that is to take place in the state capital.

“The rooms for that had been booked one year in advance,” said a JSCA official. “However, the bookings are not done by us. It was done the Board itself,” he added.
