While the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be held in April next year, the authorities have decided to hold the auctions early. The tournament might be more than seven months away, but the franchise owners have already begun trading players in order to come up with a formidable squad for IPL 2020. The franchises will get the opportunity to further strengthen their squad in December this year, where the auction for the next season is likely to be held.

According to a report, it will be a mini-auction, which will see a 3 crore increment to the salary cap of players which means the franchises can spend up to Rs 86 crore. While most of the teams are more or less settled, the weaker teams see the auction as an opportunity to revamp their side with quality players. If the auction is held in December, we might get to know the date from IPL authorities for the deadline when franchises can release their underperforming players soon.
