Indians Are Extremely Disciplined; We Should Have Prepared More mentally – Zubayr Hamza
South African players were weak in all the department. They were not able to understand the condition of the Indian field. The bowlers were not able to halt Indian batters to set big totals. They lost the early wickets and were not able to reach the total.
Indian are professional
Zubayr Hamza was the only South African player to reach above 50 runs on the last Test match. He said that the Indian players were playing a professional game and they should have prepared mentally to face India in their home ground.
“I will just say that maybe we should have prepared more mentally in terms of playing them in whatever conditions that we faced,” the 24-year-old Hamza told reporters after stumps on Day 3.
“Indians are extremely disciplined and professional about the way they go about doing the job. So I wouldn’t say we were underprepared against the seamers,” Hamza said.
Hamza praises Indian bowlers
In the third and last Test match, India declared the innings after scoring 497 runs. In South Africa’s first innings, Indian bowlers took the wickets at regular interval and bundled them at 162 runs. Skipper gave follow on to the visitors as India had the lead of 300+ runs. Proteas were not able to set themselves in the second innings also. They were all out of 133 runs and India won the Test match by an innings and 202 runs.
Hamza was in full praise of the Indian bowlers. He said they were successful in bowling in the right areas and took the wickets early.
“I would say based on the general thought of playing in India, you’d assume that it would be tougher to play against the spinners. In saying that we knew, obviously, first, have to get through the quick bowlers that they’ve got.”
