IPL 2020 Auction Set To Be Held In December
Though there are at least seven months of time left for the upcoming Indian Premier League edition, the planning has already started by the officials. In the latest development, it is learnt that auctions for IPL 2020 will happen in December.
3 crore increment to the salary cap of players:
Last year, it was an eventful auction, as it was a mega auction with all the teams auctioning their players. However, this time, it is going to be a mini-auction with most of the team players set to remain the same for all the franchises.
According to a report, it will be a mini-auction, which will see a 3 crore increment to the salary cap of players. It means that the franchises can spend up to Rs 86 crore. If the auction is held in December, we might hear a date from IPL authorities for the deadline when franchises can release their underperforming players.IPL (Credits: BCCI)
However, this would be a massive opportunity for the teams like Kings XI Punjab and Royal Challengers Bangalore to bag those players, who can fit in their team. Mostly, RCB would be eyeing bowlers while KXIP requires a perfect skipper and the middle-order batsman. And also, the same goes for Rajasthan Royals as well.
However, it would ve interesting to see the release player’s list of each franchise. It is expected that Chennai Super Kings would make a few changes alongside Kolkata Knight Riders. On the other hand, Delhi Capitals, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians would be happy with what they have in the backpack.
Meanwhile, the trading continues between teams. It has been widely speculated that Delhi Capitals are eyeing R Ashwin for next season. After yet another disappointing show in the previous season, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) revamped their support staff. Much to the same, KKR also brought in a few changes. Meanwhile, Delhi and Mumbai Indians traded Rutherford with Mayank Markande.
