When compared to players from Australia, West Indies and England, the Bangladeshi cricketers have always had a limited presence in the Indian Premier League (IPL). However, limited presence aside, their cricketers have been impactful for their respective franchises. For instance, talented left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman won the ‘Emerging Player of the Year’ award for the 2016 edition and in doing so, became the first and only non-Indian cricketer to achieve this feat.

Three Bangladesh cricketers who could be picked up by franchises in IPL Auction 2020

Mustafizur Rahman

With 17 wickets in 16 matches for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 2016 edition, Mustafizur Rahman won the ‘Emerging Player of the Year’ award. He, along with Bhuvneshwar Kumar formed a deadly fast-bowling combo and were instrumental in SRH’s first-ever IPL victory. The bowler was then picked up by Mumbai Indians for the 2018 edition but was released by the franchise before the start of IPL 2019.

Mushfiqur Rahim

Mushfiqur Rahim is yet to play IPL. The Bangladeshi veteran, however, boasts an impressive limited-overs record for his country. A regular figure in the Bangladesh Premier League, the cricketer scored 426 runs in the 2018-19 edition for his team Chittagong Vikings. If selected in the IPL, the wicketkeeper-batsman could be a handy asset for his team with his big-hitting abilities and behind-the-stumps skills.

Tamim Iqbal

The stylish left-handed batsman was signed on Pune Warriors India in 2012 but failed to feature in any match for the team. Iqbal is one of the best batsmen for Bangladesh in all three formats of the game. He is also the only Bangladeshi batsman to register a T20I century when he smashed an unbeaten 103 against Oman during the ICC World Twenty20 2016 in India.
