Lance Klusener Announced As The Afghanistan Head Coach

Former South African cricketer Lance Klusener joins Afghanistan team as the head coach. The experienced will guide the team now for their upcoming assignments. Afghanistan is currently developing as a challenging team. Lately, the performance of the team is commendable.

Lance Klusener has coached worldwide. He worked as a batting coach for Zimbabwe team, batting coach of South Africa Test team and has coached in many domestic matches. Now he will be working with Afghanistan and will take up the role before the series against West Indies in November.

Afghanistan Cricket Board announced that the head coach ‘ tenure came to an end. 50 applications were received by the board and one of them was of Klusener. ACB CEO Lutfullah Stanikzai expressed confidence in him and opined his experience will help a lot.

“Lance Klusener is a renowned name in the cricketing world. It will be great to see our players benefit from his vast experience both as a player and a coach.” Mr Stanikzai said

Lance Klusener said that he was happy to take up the role and would work hard to make Afghanistan the best.

“I am extremely excited and honoured to be given the opportunity to work with some of the best talents in world cricket. Everyone knows the fearless brand of cricket Afghanistan plays. I am very confident that with some hard work we can become one of the best sides in the world. I am really looking forward to working with the Afghanistan team and helping them take their cricket to the next level.”

Klusener played 171 ODIs, 49 Test matches, 197 first-class and 324 List A matches. He has scored 3576 in ODI, 9521 in first-class cricket and 6648 in List A matches. After retiring from cricket, he decided to become a coach and got the training. At present, he is the level 4 certified coach.
