Live New Zealand vs England, second T20: live score and latest updates from Wellington
Well, it might have been quite a long day for some England sports fans. Sorry to rugby lovers that the team didn't get the result we were all hoping for, but perhaps the England cricketers can go some (tiny) way to making up for that disappointment with a T20 win tonight.
There's certainly every reason for optimism. England have won their last six Twenty20 internationals and won the first match of this series early in the week, We are right at the start of the New Zealand cricket season and there was a sense of the hosts, especially, just grinding through the gears a touch in that match. Tonight's match comes from the Westpac stadium in Wellington, not the biggest ground, and we should surely see plenty of tap. The weather is all good. Sunny, clear, and perhaps a bit of a breeze.
We will have news of the teams and toss directly. One man who sadly will not be taking part is Joe No Pants Denly, who has done his ankle ligaments. He will be out of the rest of the series and, well, I very much hope that's not the end of the road for him in the national side's colours but you wouldn't be stunned if it was.
Another chap who has been something of a curate's egg for England, James Vince, was in the runs in the last match and as is his way, looked the part. If he could become a bit more consistent (or, rather, stop consistently doing the same mistakes over and over) then England would really have a player on their hands. Perhaps the shortest format can be a way to some confidence and stickability.
